History Lecture Series – From Over Here to Over There: WWI From the Home Front
The Monclova Historical Foundation invites you to join us on Wednesday, July 25th at 7:00pm for our next History Lecture – From Over Here to Over There: WW1 From the Home Front featuring Kathy Dowd.
To help commemorate the 100 year anniversary of WWI, historian Kathy Dowd will speak about the Great War (1914-1918) and how women here on the home front did their part to help support “our boys over there”. Come learn about the role women played in winning “the war to end all wars”.
Kathy Dowd holds a master’s degree in Historic Apparel Design from BGSU. Her area of expertise is women’s apparel of the 19th century. She has been a freelance designer for over 40 years and her client base is very diverse. She has designed clothes for Rick James, Disney Singapore, Ripley’s, The Toledo Rep, the Toledo Opera and The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum. Kathy is currently the Curator and Volunteer Coordinator of the Wolcott House Museum Complex in Maumee. Her passion is to teach history through the use of historic apparel.
The lecture will take place at the Monclova Community Center (Ottawa Room) located at 8115 Monclova Road – just 3 miles West of St. Luke’s Hospital. Admission and parking are FREE. An elevator is located at the west entrance to the building. Hope to see you there!
