POSTPONED: History Lecture – Wed., MAR 16 @ 7P

NOTICE:  The History Lecture for this Wednesday, March 18th will be Postponed

The Monclova Historical Foundation invites you to join us on Wednesday, March 18th at 7:00pm for our next History Lecture.

Doctoral student Travis Sheaffer will present upon the life of Civil War General Robert Kingston Scott of Henry County, Ohio. A member of the 68th Ohio Infantry and later governor of South Carolina, Scott is probably most know for shooting a man in 1880 in Napoleon, Ohio which resulted in a sensational trial that made national headlines. Scott was eventually acquitted, leading to public outrage.

So, how is it that Scott was acquitted of all charges?  Did Robert Kingston Scott get off ‘Scott-free’?

Travis Sheaffer was born, raised, and lives in Napoleon, Ohio and has been fascinated by this complex story since he was a young boy.  Sheaffer is a doctoral student at Bowling Green State University in the Leadership Studies Doctoral Program in the College of Education. After graduation, Sheaffer plans on authoring and publishing a book on General Scott.

The lecture will take place at the Monclova Community Center (Ottawa Room) located at  8115 Monclova Road –  just 3 miles West of St. Luke’s Hospital.  Admission and parking are FREE. An elevator is located at the west entrance to the building.  The event is sponsored by The Lakes of Monclova. Hope to see you there!
